Gearing up for the official opening of the Metro Silver Line, Phase 1 tests are underway in order to assure the safety of future passengers. Herndon Patch reports that during such testing on August 13, 2013, a Silver Line train near Wolf Trap derailed while operating at 5 mph. There were no injuries as a result of the derailment, and the train has been taken out of service. MWAA is currently investigating the incident, and testing is expected to continue as scheduled in order to meet the deadline for public passengers in January, 2014.
